SunExpress: get your flight delay/cancellation compensation
How can you claim compensation for a SunExpress delayed or cancelled flight?
According to EU regulations (and more specifically EC 261/2004), air passengers (including UK citizens) are entitled to financial compensation from SunExpress in case of a flight delay, cancellation, or denied boarding. What’s more, this right extends back three years from the claim date, so you can claim your compensation even if you are only learning about it now.
SkyRefund’s expert team can help you go through this tedious legal process, and we will only charge you 35% of the compensation amount IF we win your case. You can file your claim on our website and leave the rest to us.

How much compensation can you get for your flight disruption?
The compensation amount depends on the flight distance and the duration of the delay. In general, you can get reimbursement from €250 up to €600. You can consult the two tables below for the exact conditions in the case of a flight delay or cancellation.
When can you claim SunExpress flight compensation?
If your SunExpress flight was delayed, cancelled, or you were denied boarding due to overbooking, you might be eligible for compensation. SkyRefund makes it easy for you to check your eligibility, simply enter your flight details into our compensation calculator and we will take it from there.
However, there are certain conditions that need to be met in order for you to be entitled to compensation.
SunExpress Delayed Flight Compensation
- The delay was over three hours. It is important to note that the delay is calculated as the difference between the predetermined scheduled time of arrival at the final destination and the actual arrival time. The flight is considered to have arrived once the aircraft has come to a complete halt and one of its doors is open.
- The delay was not due to extraordinary circumstances. Examples of such include (but are not limited to): bad weather, security threats (terrorist attacks), political or civil unrest, restrictions from the air traffic control, strikes of the airport staff or the unions. In other words, SunExpress will only be obliged to pay you compensation if the airline can be held accountable for the flight delay (i.e. if there was a technical problem with the aircraft or the airline staff was on strike).

SunExpress Cancelled Flight Compensation
Before we list the conditions for getting your compensation for a flight, cancelled by SunExpress, you should know that apart from the financial compensation, the airline is obliged to either provide you with a replacement (free) flight to your final destination or a full refund of the ticket fare.
If you missed a connecting flight due to the delay or cancellation, SunExpress will have to ensure you get to your final destination. This, however, is only true if you had both legs of your journey under the same booking number, so we advise you to always reserve your connecting flights together.
- SunExpress notified you about the cancellation less than 14 days before the scheduled departure.
- If you were informed between 7 and 14 days before departure, you will be eligible for compensation only if your alternative flight gets you to your final destination with a delay of over 4 hours.
- If you were informed less than 7 days before the scheduled flight, a delay of your alternate flight with over 2 hours will guarantee you financial compensation.
- The flight was not cancelled due to any extraordinary circumstances (the same explanation we gave above applies here, too.)
Notice Given | Arrival at Final Destination |
14 Days or More |
No compensation |
7-13 Days | A delay of more than 4 hours |
Less than 7 Days | A delay of more than 2 hours |
