Depending on the length of your journey and the duration of the delay you experienced on your Olympic Air flight, you may be entitled to:
€ 250 | € 400 | € 600 |
Less than 1500 km | Between 1500 & 3500 km | More than 3500 km |
Passengers are entitled to delayed, cancelled or denied boarding compensation in the following cases:
To claim Olympic Air flight delay compensation, your flight needs to meet two basic conditions:
You arrived at your final destination with a delay of 3 hours or more.
Extraordinary circumstances were not the reason behind the delay.
Airlines are not obligated to pay compensation if your flight was subject to extraordinary circumstances as they are beyond their capabilities to prevent. The often include:
Bad weather conditions
Bird strikes
Security risks
Control tower traffic restrictions
Medical emergencies
Union and airport strikes
Two important exceptions:
If your flight began and ended in the EU, the maximum amount you could claim is €400.
If your journey exceeded 3500km and your delay at the final destination was between 3 and 4 hours, the airline has the right to reduce your compensation by half.
According to EC261, you are eligible to flight cancellation compensation if you have been informed less than 2 weeks before the departure of your flight. Please refer to the table below:
Notice Given | Arrival at Final Destination |
14 Days or More | No compensation |
7-13 Days | Your alternate flight arrived at your final destination more than 4 hours late. |
Less than 7 Days |
Your replacement flight arrived at your final destination more than 2 hours late . |
If you were involuntarily denied boarding you could claim denied boarding compensation. It is a common practice for the airlines to overbook flights. When a flight ends up with more passengers than seats, the airline would ask for volunteers. Please remember that if you accept the offer from the airlne you lose your right to compensation.
